Indonesia is known as a country with a high tolerance for different religions and living together in harmony, but conflicts between religions is no exception in Indonesia and still exists even with the high tolerance to different religions. Well if you would like to know more about this topic this article is just for you, as this article will cover a ton of information about the religious conflict in Indonesia and to promote Religious Harmony. Before we dig deeper into this topic we need to find out, what actually causes religious conflict?
Body 1
There are many factors to starting religious conflict such as historical, social, political and economic factors now let's take an examples of religious conflict in Indonesia such as the Maluku conflict, According to this conflict had started because of a political and economic factor it had started due to the fall of the dictator of Indonesia which was Suharto and also from their currency also devaluing which is known as rupiah. And Political disputes exacerbated because of the increased tension between the different religions but what really triggered this conflict was when the Muslims were celebrating the end of their fasting month and a sudden fight between a Christian transport driver and a Muslim passenger fought. Now after finding out some of the factors that causes religious conflict we now have to find out what are the root causes of religious tension in Indonesia so for example let's take the Maluku conflict and lets try to find the root cause of why the conflict started, It turns out that the root cause of this conflict was because of a religion being degraded and because of this degradation state it started to become a trigger for a religious conflict which caused violence. Now let's look at the effects the conflict in Maluku caused let's start off with the community getting affected, 2.1 Million people were affected by this conflict and approximately 700,000 people had been displaced and no less than 5,000 people got killed this conflict also resulted in long and short term consequences some examples of the short term consequences are some minor damages such as some people being forced to change to become Muslim and some examples of long term damages are some people had to take emergency aid because of the damages from the Maluku conflict, also 5,000 deaths scarring the hearts of many people and people will have some type of trauma from this fight in the future.
Body 2
After finding out about the horrible events of the Maluku conflict and what the effects did to the Maluku community we should learn on how to prevent this type of conflict again and promote religious harmony, there are many factors to religious harmony such as the government ,for the Maluku conflict the government can implement more police stations to prevent small conflicts escalating into becoming bigger conflicts since there are more police personnel able to assist the people in the conflict and try to break the conflict up the government could have also sent out more police, but sadly some of the police officers didn’t help the Christians and rather helped the Muslims in the conflict rather than resolving the conflict itself so government can also help implement making sure that the police officers have good ethics and also make sure the police officers are willing to help anyone in need. Other than the government we also need to promote religious harmony by trying to understand the differences between different religions and trying to adapt and live in harmony by not disturbing one another and respecting and tolerating each other's religions, let's take an example from Malaysia who has great religious harmony in which there was a story of an eight year old boy passing away and all the religions gathered together to try to find the body of the boy and even though the boys parents were Chinese Christian many different religions were willing to help, imagine if Maluku could have this type of religious harmony this would make it so that future events such as the Maluku conflict wouldn't happen,
Conclusion
In conclusion the events of Maluku caused a lot of damage between the Christian and Muslim party in Maluku and caused a ton of damage it caused 2.1 million people getting affected and it also had horrible consequences to it, that's why with the help of the government and us living together in harmony we can make indonesia a country with higher religious harmony, so make sure to always stay positive and don’t remember to tolerate different religions and help spread religious harmony by sharing this article!
